Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Tuesday appealed to the people of Jharkhand to elect the party to power with full majority in the coming assembly elections, promising that under the BJP, the state will develop for the better.
"I appeal to the people of Jharkhand to put their faith in us and give us a stable government for the development of the state," Shah said, launching his party's election manifesto for the state.
Shah further stated that the BJP has restored the belief of people in democracy, adding that the party has introduced the politics of performance.
"People's faith in governance and democracy, which was lost, is being restored steadily after the BJP has come to power. It is the BJP which introduced the politics of performance in the country and on that basis, the party has started having governments in state after state," he said.
Seeking a clear majority for the BJP in the elections, Shah compared Jharkhand to Chhattisgarh, saying that while both states were created together, the latter has marched ahead and has made great progress towards becoming a developed state because of a stable government, while the former has gone backwards because of instability.
The assembly elections in Jharkhand will be held in five phases - on November 25, December 2, December 9, December 14 and December 20, with the counting of the votes scheduled to be held on December 23.
