Several state employee unions staged mass protests over their pending demands in Srinagar on Monday.

Nisar Ahmad, a striking employee, accused the government of paying no heed to the demands of the agitating employees.

"The pending demands that the government has included - the matter of delivery, casual labour, retirement age and many other issues and they are all pending right now. Till now the government has not solved these problems despite repeated pleas and protests," said Ahmad.

The Employees' Joint Action Committee (EJAC) also called for a regularisation of the services of casual workers, payment of dues and enhancement of the retirement age.
