Vice President Hamid Ansari on Tuesday called for the empowerment of women through education, terming it a 'partnership process'.
Speaking at the Sofia College for Women here, Vice President Ansari said that the empowerment of women can be possible only through education, adding, "Education is a partnership process. It is the responsibility of the parents to send their children to school, and it is the responsibility of the schools to impart good education."
The Vice President also added that sports should be made part of the curriculum under the Right To Education (RTE). "The Right To Sports must be part of the Right To Education. That is where the talent lies, which India needs to locate, if it were to excel in variety of sports," he said.

Vice President Ansari also backed the reservation of seats for minorities, saying, "Our Constitution provides for equality of opportunities. If some people are found to be less than equal, then the state has to take necessary steps to place them on an equal footing.
