England's one-day cricket team coach Ashley Giles is hopeful that his wards will emerge victorious in their Group A encounter with Australia in the ICC Champions Trophy when they meet later this week at Edgbaston.
Giles believes that it will enhance the team's confidence and increase expectations for the semi-finals of the tournament, reports The Mirror.
Giles said that all eyes are on the Ashes series, which begins in Nottingham from July 10.
Giles said that despite the squad not being the same, playing at home would favour the team, which has never won the Champions Trophy, and thus, victory would give them confidence ahead of the Ashes.
Giles said that he would be analyzing the opposition, looking for those one percenters that would help his team win games.
He added that with the team in shape, there is a chance of them winning the tournament.
