England has included the uncapped duo of Warwickshire all-rounder Chris Woakes and Lancashire left-arm spinner Simon Kerrigan in the 14-man squad for the final Ashes Test at The Oval.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Woakes, already a one-day international player, was brought in after pace bowling all-rounder Tim Bresnan was injured.

There are reasons behind the inclusion of the 24-year-old Kerrigan, whose 47 wickets, albeit in the Second Division, at 20.23 make him the leading spinner in County Championship cricket so far this season, the report said.

England, who at 3-0 up have already retained the Ashes and won the series, will be looking to win four matches in a home Test series against Australia for the first time when they play Australia in the fifth Test at the Oval, the report added.

England squad: Alastair Cook (Essex, capt), Joe Root (Yorkshire), Jonathan Trott (Warwickshire), Kevin Pietersen (Surrey), Ian Bell (Warwickshire), Jonny Bairstow (Yorkshire), Matt Prior (Sussex, wkt), Stuart Broad (Nottinghamshire), Graeme Swann (Nottinghamshire), James Anderson (Lancashire), Chris Woakes (Warwickshire), Chris Tremlett (Surrey), Steven Finn (Middlesex), Simon Kerrigan (Lancashire).
