Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Monday urged the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to enhance its investigative competence for timely completion of probes in high profile cases.

Addressing a gathering at the NIA Day function here, the Minister reportedly said that there was no immediate need for a separate legislation to deal with terrorism as the existing agencies in the country are capable enough to tackle the menace.

He said that India is a soft power capable of firm and strong action, adding that the country believes in behaving in a stable and responsible manner instead of being aggressive. He also said that India is committed to friendly relations with all its neighbours.

Rijiju further assured that the security arrangements for the US President Barack Obama'a visit later this week are in place.
