Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power Piyush Goyal on Friday announced that every Indian home will have electricity by 2019, while inaugurating 'Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojana' ( DDUGJY) in Gorakhpur and Basti districts of Uttar Pradesh.
While speaking on the occasion, Goyal said that under the DDUGJY , Rs 350 crore have been allocated for Gorakhpur and Rs 550 crore for Basti district.
He further said that with Rs 350 crore in Gorakhpur, the fragile power transformers, electric polls and wirings would be changed so that unabated power supply could be ensured. Now with this new scheme, the aim is to ensure proper power supply in all houses of eastern Uttar Pradesh and in entire state as well by 2019.
Goyal stated that the Prime Minister will be visiting Varanasi on September 18.
"On the same day the Prime Minister will be inaugurating Integrated Power Development Scheme in Varanasi that will improve the power supply scenario in UP," Goyal said.
In a similar program held in Basti, Goyal while addressing the people said, "In last 68 years there has been no proper supply of electricity in Basti district. But our government is determined enough to provide electricity to every village in Basti in next two years."
