Manchester United veteran defender Patrice Evra is hoping that Netherlands manager Louis van Gaal will wake up the club from their 'nightmare' after taking charge of the Premier League side.

The Dutchman has been the bookmakers' favorite to become the new United boss since David Moyes has been sacked from his post as manager, with veteran footballer Ryan Giggs taking charge of the club as interim boss.

According to the Mirror, Evra said that this has been a season to forget really quickly and United has to bounce back, adding that it has been a 'nightmare' but he is confident that Van Gaal would help the club turn around.

Meanwhile, United striker Wayne Rooney has returned to training after suffering both a stomach bug and a tight groin, and hopes to be available for the final home game of the season following the club's dismal 1-0 defeat to Sunderland.

Also, defender Phil Jones has admitted that United fans have got every right to leave early and boo the club following the champions' 12th Premier League defeat of the season.

Moreover, interim boss Giggs said that the fans have been great this year, United supporters understand that the they all want to be back at the top and if it takes a bit of time, then he feels sure that the fans would support the club.

Giggs further added that it would be a big summer, adding that it has obviously not been a great season for the club, so for United to get back up there they need to improve.
