Three times World Champion Sir Jackie Stewart has admitted that though the newly crowned F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton is on the right path, he cannot be considered a great yet.
Stewart believes that Hamilton has the capability to become one of the great drivers. He said that one cannot judge his greatness based on this year's performance as the Briton had an advantage due to Mercedes' superiority throughout the whole season, the BBC reported.
Though Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull dominated the sport for the past four years, Mercedes entered 2014 season with an arguably bigger advantage over the field. Steward further said that complete domination by Mercedes have made the races slightly dull during the season. Fans would like to see more competition next year, he added.
However, Stewart also warned Hamilton to be wary of distractions which comes with success. Distractions could threaten the long term success, he added. Greater things are expected from him in the future as he is young and in order to become great he has to continue winning races, he added.
