Former ICC president David Morgan has reportedly been announced as the next president of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), which own the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground in London.

Morgan, who also served as a chairperson of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), will take over on October 1 after being nominated by current MCC president Mike Gatting.

According to Sport24, Morgan will however, continue in his post as the president of Welsh county Glamorgan, where he made his name as a cricket administrator, alongside his MCC duties.

Stating that Morgan remains one of the most influential voices in the world game, Gatting said that he believes the former ICC president will do an 'excellent job' in leading MCC through 'a very important time in its history' as he is ambitious, creative and efficient and is the ideal person to succeed him.

The former England captain further said that he has thoroughly enjoyed his time as MCC president and is looking forward to seeing the club through the Lord's (ground) bicentenary celebrations in his final few months at the club.
