Former Manipur chief minister and Rajya Sabha MP Rishang Keishing passed away on Tuesday.
Keishing died at a private hospital due to multiple-organ failure. He was 98 years-old.
The doctors at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences hospital Imphal declared him dead at around 6.30 pm in the evening.
On July 1, Keishing was admitted in the hospital due to age-related health problems.
Following his demise, the Manipur government has declared three-day mourning in the state.
Keishing has served as Manipur Chief Minister for four times, besides stints in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. He was born on October 25, 1919 in Bungpa Khunou village.
Manipur chief minister joined the Indian National Congress (INC) under the leadership of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and since then he remained a member of All India Congress Committee (AICC).
