Former Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) chief Murtaza Solangi has claimed that while India has handed over Mohammad Ali Jinnah's historic speech of August 1947 to Pakistan, some parts of his speeches have been deliberately destroyed by ex-army generals.
Solangi said that he learnt about the missing speech in 2008 and started a campaign in 2011 in which he uploaded 319 rare recordings, including Jinnah's speeches, on video-sharing website YouTube, the Express Tribune reports.
The epic August 11, 1947 speech to the Constituent Assembly is especially famous for its advocacy of religious freedom and equality for all and a strong quest for a secular state.
The audio recordings of Jinnah's June 3 and August 14, 1947 speeches were handed over to Pakistan by India last week.
Solangi, who is no longer working with the PBC, said he has not given up his quest in search of the missing portions of the speech and is still hopeful of retrieving it.
He further said that the national archives are kept in a small stuffy room and added that a majority of the recordings are bad in quality. He also said there is no protection for analogue tapes.
