Former South African and Australian coach Mickey Arthur has expressed his interest of being the next coach for England.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) are looking to appoint a successor of Peter Moores, who was sacked by the newly appointed England's Cricket director Andrew Strauss.

Arthur said that he would certainly have a conversation with ECB as it was a wonderful opportunity, Sport24 reported.

He insisted that the England team is looking for leadership and direction and anyone who could do that right would have a good chance of success.

Meanwhile, there are reports that the Yorkshire coach Jason Gillespie is the 'favourite' candidate for the job in eyes of Strauss.

The former South African batsman also took on Matthew Hayden's comment of calling the applicants for the England coach 'crazy'.

Arthur said that he didn't know what Hayden was trying to say, adding that the time was perfect for someone to make their mark in coaching.
