The former SAS sergeant, who allegedly claimed Princess Diana was murdered by the SAS has reportedly fled Britain.

According to the Sunday People, the former soldier known as soldier N, went missing days before he was due to be quizzed by police as part of a fresh investigation into the death of the Princess, the Mirror reported.

He is said to have told his wife that a special forces hit squad flashed a light to blind Diana's driver and caused her death crash - using a technique developed to combat terrorists.

Soldier N was due to meet Scotland Yard's DCI Philip Easton to be questioned about the claims as part of a new police assessment of the 1997 evidence.

It is believed that the former SAS sniper left Britain on Monday or Tuesday.

His ex apparently told police that he smuggled thousands of pounds of stolen money home after serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

It is thought Soldier N may be in the United Arab Emirates. His partner and her children are still at their home in Hereford.
