A former American pro skateboarder-turned reality star has reportedly set a new world record for the longest car jump in reverse.
Rob Dyrdek, who was driving a modified Chevrolet Sonic, jumped more than 27 metres facing the wrong way as part of a stunt for his TV show Fantasy Factory.
According to Stuff.co.nz, Dyrdek's car was fitted with a roll-cage, racing seat and belts, stronger suspension and a smaller fuel tank and Guinness World Records officials verified the jump at a California amusement park and ensured that Dyrdek not only cleared the distance but was able to drive away after the stunt.
The report mentioned that it is not the first time Dyrdek has done a car stunt, adding that in 2011 he successfully did a barrel roll - known as a kick-flip in skateboarder parlance - also in a Chevy Sonic.
In 2010, Drydek teamed up with American drifter Vaughn Gittin Jr to turn a Ford Mustang into a skateboard car and performed skateboarding tricks in a specially designed course, the report added.
