England bowler Tim Bresnan has said that his teammates pretending to rock a baby will be the sign that his first child is on the way, as England try to recapture their top one-day form at the second of the three-match series against New Zealand at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.
Expectant father Bresnan, who made his first England appearance after four months at Lord's ODI following elbow surgery, will however, have to help England improve dramatically following their insipid five-wicket defeat by New Zealand despite him reaching speeds of around 85mph, The Sun reports.
According to the Yorkshire bowler, the baby is due on Monday, adding that it will be a last-minute decision if he decides to leave, although he said that he will have to play out the game as usual and hope the labour is long enough for him to get there if he happens to be on the field at that time.
Stating that he has to be flexible as there is no point in predicting the future, Bresnan further said that players or someone from the management will let him know, probably with a baby-rocking signal from the balcony, if his baby is born while he is on the field, adding that he may leave if he had bowled his ten overs.
Bresnan further said that he finds it quite easy to switch his attention, although he added that when he is on the field, his mind remains on the job at hand.
Meanwhile, Bresnan, who is a key component of England's attack with Stuart Broad and Steven Finn still missing with injuries, said that his pace and rhythm felt good on his international return, adding that there was no fear that he would not be ready for the middle of the summer.
