Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain believes that winning the FA Cup will help his club to get over a psychological barrier in order to start winning trophies.

Oxlade-Chamberlain said that the experience of winning a cup is vital as once a club does get that experience of winning the first one, the players automatically build confidence that they can go and do it again.

According to the Mirror, the England international said that Arsenal squad needs to get the winning experience because he has always heard commentators mention about other clubs who have won and how their experience has helped them.

However, Oxlade-Chamberlain said that winning the first trophy is a lot easier said than done, adding that Arsenal is in a position where they can make it happen and in a position where it is their responsibility to take that opportunity of winning it.

The midfielder also added that this year Arsenal has got further than in the last few years, and the opportunity is greater for them to go and win the FA Cup.

Oxlade-Chamberlain further said that the win would definitely be a 'springboard and a confidence boost' to go on to the future.

Arsenal have not won any trophy since the FA Cup in 2005 and the nine-year wait will weigh heavy on their minds before their semi-final showdown with Wigan Athletic at Wembley, the report added.
