Facebook has been testing a dedicated GIF button which allows the users to find and send GIFs in two taps.

A dedicated GIF button will make sharing GIF much easier than the current setup, in which users are required to download and use a dedicated app in addition to Messenger just to share content.

According to the Techcrunch.com, the GIF button, which began appearing last week to some of Messenger's 700 million monthly active users, skim a number of trending GIFs from Giphy and Riffsy, which are the two companies that produced dedicated apps for Messenger and help in sharing without the need to leave the Messenger app.

But, the problem is that the selection of GIFs is limited.

Also, if the GIFs are once sent, it includes a link to download either GIF for Messenger, Riffsy or Giphy for Messenger.

A company spokesperson said that the GIFs have seen success as a rich media format within Messenger. He also said that with this feature, they are testing various ways to make it even easier to send great content like GIFs with just a few taps.

The integrations are in testing at this point, which means there is no guarantee that they will roll out to all Messenger users.
