World's biggest social networking site Facebook will reportedly restrict under 18 users to access posts related to sale of guns and other regulated items under mounting pressure from lobbying groups.

Facebook has said that it will remove posts from users who 'indicate a willingness' to break the law, like selling firearms without a background check, the report said.

According to the BBC, Facebook said that people had expressed their concern over the offers regarding 'private sale of firearms' on the site, which may create other consequences elsewhere and this is a major challenge for the social networking giant.

Facebook has reportedly revealed that it had worked with various stakeholders, including New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, to develop the new rules, which would not allow private sellers of firearms in the US to specify 'no background check required' or offer transactions across state lines 'without a licensed firearms dealer'.

The social networking giant allows people to express themselves on the services Facebook offers and people sometimes use their free tools to discuss products that are regulated or controversial, the report added.
