Faulkner says 'having belief' is key to chasing runs ahead of India-Oz WC semifinal tie

Ahead of their crunch World Cup semifinal tie against defending champions India, Australian all-rounder James Faulkner has said that 'having the belief' is the key to chasing runs.

India and Australia would lock horns in their tournament semifinal at the SCG on Thursday for a place in the World Cup final.

Faulkner, who has the reputation as the man to deliver Australia victory in tight run-chases, said that one definitely has to have the belief, no matter what the total a team is chasing, Stuff.co.nz reported.

Australia's pace attack has made a habit of restricting the opposition to low scores, but if that stops against defending champions India in Sydney after Mahendra Singh Dhoni chooses to bat first, then Faulkner suggested that his team won't be shocked.

The all-rounder said that it's all about their start, whether they are chasing or whether they are setting. He insisted that if a team starts well more times than not they are going to end up in a position in the last 10 or 15 overs where they have a crack at chasing a big total.
