Everyone was shocked when 'La La Land' handed over the Oscar statue for Best Picture to 'Moonlight,' after presenters Warren Beaty and Faye Dunaway announced the wrong winner.

After two months of being silent, Faye Dunaway finally has spoken about the unfortunate incident.

The 76-year-old-actress, while giving an interview on NBC Nightly News spoke about what happened during the Oscar night mix-up and how she felt "very guilty" about the incident, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

She said, "I could have done something, surely. Why didn't I see Emma Stone's name on the top of the card?"

The 'Bonnie and Clyde' star who presented the Best Picture Oscar with Bonnie and Clyde's co-star Warren Beaty, said she initially thought that Warren was joking while on the stage.

The Academy award-winner shared, "So he took the card out, and he didn't say anything. He paused. He looked over at me, [then] offstage. He looked around. And I finally said, 'You're impossible.' I thought he was joking. I mean, I thought he was stalling. Warren's like that. He kind of holds the power and makes people - a dramatic pause. But it's part of his charm."

When asked if she felt stung by the incident, the actress noted, "Yeah, completely. And we were, I won't say 'deer in the headlight,' but you are completely stunned. You don't know what has happened."

Earlier, in an interview with Graham Norton, Warren Beaty also said that the incident was a total "chaos."

For the unversed, a PricewaterhouseCoopers accountant gave Warren Beaty a wrong envelope before he and Dunaway presented the award for best picture to 'La La Land,' and the film's cast and crew took the stage in celebration until producer Jordan Horowitz pointed out that 'Moonligh' was the actual winner.

After the incident, both the accountants Martha Ruiz and Brian Cullinan were thrown out of the firm's team working with the Academy.
