Switzerland reportedly avoided an embarrassing Davis Cup quarterfinal defeat as tennis ace Roger Federer sealed his country's place in the semi-finals after defeating Kazakhstan's Andrey Golubev.
Switzerland was reportedly trailing 2-1 to Kazakhstan after doubles defeat for Federer and teammate Stanislas Wawrinka.
However, Swiss ace Federer defeated Golubev 7-6 (7-0) 6-2 6-3 to seal Switzerland's place in the semi-finals after Wawrinka overcame Mikhail Kukushkin, the BBC reported.
Switzerland reportedly defeated Kazakhstan 3-2 in the Davis Cup quarterfinals in Kazakhstan to secure their place in the semi finals.
Switzerland will face Italy in the last four after the Italians beat Great Britain, the report added.
