Former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson hailed Ryan Giggs' fantastic career after the veteran midfielder announced his retirement in order to focus on his new role as assistant to the club's new manager Louis van Gaal.
Ferguson, who retired at the end of the 2012-13 season, reportedly paid his tribute to Giggs in a video message on United's official website saying that what a fantastic career, the number of games the midfielder has played, the trophies he has won, the help he has given to young people and to the former manager and all the coaching staff.
According to Sport24, Giggs, who has been the most decorated player in United's history, is well established as one of European football's all-time greats after making 963 appearances for the club during which he scored 168 goals and won 13 Premier League titles, four FA Cups, four League Cups and two Champions Leagues.
Meanwhile, former United midfielder David Beckham, who emerged from the Old Trafford youth academy at the same time as Giggs, while paying tribute to his teammate's remarkable loyalty and longevity hailed him as an 'amazing servant' to the game.
Beckham said that Giggs is an amazing servant to the game of course, but more importantly, an amazing servant to United, adding that they are all proud of him and the club's fans love him.
Giggs will now be concentrating on assisting Netherlands coach Van Gaal after the Dutchman has been confirmed as United's new manager on Monday, the report added.
