After having spent 27 years amassing an incredible 38 trophies, veteran manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who retired from the position two years ago, now wants any succeeding manager at the club to beat that record.
According to The Mirror, Ferguson's collection of silverware is the highest ever won by a top-flight British manager.
Current manager Louis van Gaal is still too far way from that target, and many believe his No.2 and former Manchester United star striker Ryan Giggs is being groomed as the man to surpass Ferguson, his old mentor.
At 73, Ferguson's passion for United to succeed is undiminished, and he wants the club to be back where they belong - winning titles
He said that he would like to see another United manager come in and win 45 -trophies in 25 years. Nothing would make him happier, he added.
Ferguson's techniques are now a fascination for American academics and students at Harvard University in Boston. He agreed to a teaching role with the revered Ivy League establishment which wants to tap into the leadership skills that made him such a great manager.
