Markets were crowded with people of all age groups buying gifts and cakes for their loved ones. Carol singing, dances, and other forms of merrymaking marked the occasion.

"We all enjoy together. It is not of any caste, religion or creed. Everyone likes to enjoy this. This festival is especially of love, sharing love and gifts. Everybody really enjoys. You can go anywhere. Whether they are Hindu, Christian or Muslim, everybody enjoys," said Sharmila Chakraborty, a local.

"We have Muslim, Christian and Hindu friends. So we try to celebrate every festival be it Christmas, Eid or Durga Puja. With that definitely unity and strength will increase," added Niladri Saha, another local.
