Australian batsman Aaron Finch has reportedly broken records by making the highest individual score in all Twenty20 internationals during his side's first competitive international win in 200 days, over England in the first T20 international at Southampton on Thursday.

According to Sport24, Finch, who was awarded with the Man-of-the-Match trophy, made an impressive 156, which was the cornerstone of Australia's 248 for six, adding that Australia's total was the highest by a Test nation in this format of the game.

The report further said that with good performances by Finch and his teammates, England lost the match by 39 runs despite wrapping up the 3-0 Ashes win with a draw at The Oval, and finished on 209 for six.

According to the report, Victorian opener Finch, whose runs came from just 63 balls, also made another world record for the most sixes in any individual T20 international innings, with his 14 sixes and also made 11 fours.

The report further said that Finch's century, which was the first by an Australian and the first by any batsman in T20 internationals in England despite being only the 10th at this level, surpassed the previous T20 world record of 123 set by New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum against Bangladesh last year.

Victory saw Australia go 1-0 up in a two-match series that concludes in Durham on Saturday, with the report adding that Australia has not won a major international match since a 17-run victory over the West Indies at Melbourne on February 10.
