A fire has damaged a jute mill in West Bengal's Howrah District.
The fire broke out in Shibpur Jute Mill, destroying substantial property and goods.
Fire fighters reached the spot soon and doused the flames with water cannons. Jute mill workers also helped them.
West Bengal Agricultural Minister Arup Rai, visited the site to inspect the damage.
"The fire broke out in the machine department. Nobody was injured and the fire did not spread much due to the prompt action of the fire fighters," said Rai.
West Bengal Disaster Management Minister Javed Khan, assured of a probe in the incident.

"We cannot say anything now. Let the fire be completely doused, there will be an investigation by police and also by us and then we can identify," Khan said.
The reason for the fire and the extent of damage is yet to be determined. However, there have been no reports of casualty.
