Unidentified men fired at the Bharatiya Janata Party's Kulgam candidate Ghulam Hasan Zargar's residence on Wednesday, following which security arrangements were beefed up.
"Till now, there was no security, but the arrangements have been made today," Zargar told media persons here.
He said other candidates may also require security post the incident.
"The candidates might need security, as the militants do not pardon anyone," he said.
The incident has taken place days before the Assembly elections begin in the state from November 25 to December 20.
