The first edition of 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone', signed by its writer JK Rowling, has been sold for 150,000 pounds at an auction at Sotheby's in central London.
The exceptional copy features handwritten notes by the author, a 43-page commentary and 22 original illustrations, the Sun reported.
The book, which was bought by a telephone bidder, was published in 1997 and it not only made the author a star but also fetched her millions.
Meanwhile, a copy of Roald Dahl's 'Matilda' earned the second highest bid of 30,000 pounds, while Kazuo Ishiguro's 'Remains Of The Day' got 18,000 pounds, and Julian Barnes' 'Metroland' fetched 14,000 pounds.
The 'First Edition, Second Thoughts auction raised a total of 439,000 pounds for charity.
