Mercedes executive director (technical) Paddy Lowe has hailed team driver Lewis Hamilton by saying that the 2008 world champion shows great promise for the rest of the year as he is driving as well as at any time in his career.

The Briton, who won his only World Championship with McLaren in 2008, is targeting a third successive Grand Prix victory in China this weekend.

According to the BBC, Lowe said that they have seen Hamilton arrive this season on top of his game, which shows good promise for the team's future this year as he is physically fit and is in a 'brilliant mental state'.

Although Hamilton never finished higher than fourth in his four subsequent campaigns at McLaren, which he left last year, he however, has taken advantage of a revamped car to win in Malaysia and Bahrain this year and move within 11 points of his team-mate Nico Rosberg in the drivers' standings.

Lowe, who has worked with Hamilton for his whole Formula 1 career, expects the racer to go from strength to strength, saying that Hamilton's experience over all the years he has spent in F1 means he has all the ingredients to have a fantastic season.

The report mentioned that Hamilton and Rosberg went wheel to wheel during the last race in Bahrain - with Hamilton just holding on to win while Lowe said that Mercedes would continue to encourage their drivers to entertain Formula 1 fans.
