At least five people have been killed in different areas of Rawalpindi in a flash flood triggered by relentless monsoon rains.
Waqas Rehman, a spokesperson for the government run emergency service, said that four people drowned as water from an overflowing drain entered residential areas in the garrison city and one more person was killed when the wall of a home collapsed, reported the Dawn.
Rehman added that rescuers have managed to save 16 people after they were swept by floodwater. However, one person was still missing, he said.
Residents were seen sitting on roofs as floodwater surged through residential streets.
