Former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba of Nepal arrived in New Delhi on Sunday to discuss bilateral ties and assorted core issues concerning Kathmandu's relations with New Delhi.

During his six-day visit he intends to call on Indian Prime Minister as well as other senior leaders to discuss the issues.

Deuba accompanied by his wife, Arju Deuba and Nepali Congress leader, Bimalenda Nidhi, were received at the airport by the protocol officials of Indian government and other functionaries of the Nepalese Embassy in New Delhi.

He would be also visiting Nepalese community residing in northern India's Uttarakhand state.

Among the Indian leaders with whom the former PM of Nepal is expected to have discussions are lawmakers Karan Singh of Congress party, Sharad Yadav of Janata Dal-United, Mulayam Singh Yadav of Samajwadi Party and president of Bharatiya Janata Party, Rajnath Singh.

Deuba would fly back to Nepal on Friday.

Giant rivals, India and China share similar goals in Nepal; each wants Nepal's political situation to stabilise and is watching closely as the country's Maoists negotiate with other political parties over a new constitution that would fundamentally reshape the government.
