Wispy moderate fog on Sunday enveloped the Delhi with air quality index in the national capital remaining steady in the "moderate" category but according to the weather department the AQI is predicted to dip over the next two days.
As many as 13 Delhi-bound trains were delayed after fog lowered the visibility.
"The air quality only slightly degraded from yesterday. It will remain in moderate category for tomorrow and then slip to the poor range for the next two days. The foggy conditions are mainly due to locally generated radiation fog," System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR) said.
The level of PM2.5 (particles in the air with a diameter of fewer than 2.5 micrometres) was recorded at 72 and the PM10 level 147, both in the "Moderate" category.
The chill in the air remained in the city with maximum temperature settling at 22 degrees Celsius and the minimum at 9.4 degrees Celsius.
The homeless in the national capital turned into night shelters for the night.
Today's Basant Panchami festival heralds the season of spring and the MeT department too has predicted a rise in temperatures over the next few days.
