A 34-year-old man in the US accused of planning a coordinated suicide bomb attack on New York City subways in 2009 at the behest of senior al Qaeda operatives will serve life imprisonment in one of the most notorious prison in Colorado.
Adis Medunjanin had planned to blow up the New York subway station to coincide it with the September 11, 2001, anniversary, but was disrupted days before its execution.
According to the New York Daily News, Medunjanin has joined a rogues' gallery of criminals as he serves his life sentence in the Florence supermax, the prison for the nation's most dangerous evildoers.
The prison, which was dubbed the cleaner version of hell by a warden, is located in Florence, Colorado.
Inmates live in near-total isolation, locked down 23 hours a day in a 7-by-11-foot cell. There is no physical contact with other inmates, and communication is closely monitored.
Brooklyn Federal Judge John Gleeson had recommended to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons that Medunjanin be poisoned as close as possible to New York so his family could visit him more easily, the report added.
