A large number of tourists from across the country and abroad are visiting Sikkim to enjoy its scenic beauty and organic cuisine. Recently, a five-day food festival was held in Gangtok to attract more tourists.
Sikkim, a tourists' paradise, is known for its unique culture and cuisine.
Recently, Sikkim Food Festival 2016 was held for food lovers giving a boost to culinary skills of chefs who aspire to prepare good and authentic cuisines from across the country.
Sikkim Governor Shriniwas Patil inaugurated the festival, which attracted many tourists, especially the foodies who love to relish organic food.
"I am very happy that Sikkim has been declared as the organic state of India way back in January which has created a history in Northeast. I want that Sikkim's cuisines and the organic products of Sikkim should be exported to places like Bangalore, Kolkata, Mumbai, Ahmadabad," said Patil.
The food festival saw authentic cuisines like Tea momos, Irish Popper, Thukpa, vegetable lasagne.

Besides these, beverages like 'Ginseng' and others were also on display.
The government of Sikkim is paying special attention to promote tourism in the state with an aim to generate revenue and employment.
