Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Venkaiah Naidu today took a jibe at the Congress' initiative to get support of its allies for the Food Security Bill, referring to media reports which said that the Samajwadi Party is likely to support the Food Security Ordinance
"There were reports from the media that some arrangement has been worked out that Samajwadi Party will support the food security. I believe this food security is for the security of the Congress Party and it has extended to its allies also," Naidu told media here.
According to media reports, the Samajwadi Party is likely to support the Food Security Ordinance during the Monsoon Session of Parliament that begins from August 5.
The Samajwadi Party had earlier opposed the Food Bill, saying it was anti-farmer.
The Congress needs the Samajwadi Party's support for other crucial bills in Parliament like Pensions and Insurance Bill as well.
