A footballer passed away due to his injuries in the hospital after he suffered a horrible tackle from a goalkeeper while playing a match in the Indonesian Premier League.

Indonesian club Persiraja Banda Aceh's striker Akli Fairuz raced for the ball along with the opponents PSAP Sigli's goalkeeper Agus Rahman to arrive first and while meeting the rebound he took the goalie's foot, stud first, directly to his midsection.

Although Fairuz score, the referee disallowed the goal, following which the striker was substituted as both teams erupted into a fight, Deadspin.com reported.

Fairuz, who seemed to be fine at the moment, watched the rest of the match from the bench, but was later admitted to a hospital where it was discovered that the striker had suffered several internal injuries, the report added.

The striker was in the hospital for six days and even though he underwent surgery, the doctors were unable to save him and Fairuz passed away on May 16, the report further added.
