As the Vyapam scam turns murkier with over 40 deaths, the Congress Party on Monday reiterated its demand for a fair and transparent probe in the 2013 scam and the immediate removal of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan from office.
"The spate of deaths itself tell their own mysterious stories of conspiracy and intrigue, so we demand once again that there is no probe possible as long as Shivraj Singh Chouhan is the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. For a fair, just and independent probe, he must be immediately sacked," Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala told ANI.
Further, reacting to Union Home Affairs Minister Rajnath Singh's statement that the SIT investigating the Vyapam scam is not working under the Madhya Pradesh government but under the supervision of the (Madhya Pradesh) High Court, Surjewala said that it reflected only complete collusion between the BJP leadership in the Centre and that of the state.
"Narendra Modi, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Rajnath Singh and the BJP leadership must answer the pertinent questions. Chouhan was the CM and the Medical Education Minister. Once Technical Education Minister can be arrested, why can't MP CM be not investigated, particulalrly so when he was Minister in-charge?" he said.
"If there is nothing wrong why are they shying away from SIT/STF probe?" he asked.
The Vyapam scam involved the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board or Vyapam, which holds the exams for positions like medical officers, constables, teachers and auditors for government departments.
The candidates allegedly bribed government officials to make it to the list of those who cleared the test.
