Former Principal Information Officer to the Government of India Mr. I. Ramamohan Rao passed away on Saturday. He was 83
Union Information and Broadcasting Minister M.Venkaiah Naidu condoled the passing away of Mr. Rao, describing it a huge loss to Indian Information Service fraternity.
"Shocked to know about demise of Ramamohan Rao, Former PIO,PIB GoI. Big loss to Indian Information Service Fraternity," Naidu said in a tweet.
Expressing grief over Mr. Rao's death, Naidu further said he would always be remembered as a fine human being and an excellent professional who gave a new vision to government communication.
Frank Naronha, Principal Director General of the Press Information Bureau, also expressed his condolences on the demise of Mr. Rao and tweeted, "I.Rammohan Rao, former PIO #PIB passes away. He was a legend and an inspiration to so many of us. Rest in peace, sir."
Mr. Rao, who served as a journalist and communicator for over six decades, was also Media Adviser to four former prime ministers - Rajiv Gandhi, V.P. Singh, Chandrashekhar and P.V. Narasimha Rao.
