Ukraine's former president Viktor Yanukovych has accepted that he is responsible for some of the killings that led to his ousting in February 2014 saying that he had not done enough to prevent bloodshed.

According to BBC, he said that he did not "deny responsibility" of the shooting of demonstrators in Kiev's Maidan square.

Yanukovych also claimed that he never gave any orders to use firearms and that he was against any use of force and bloodshed.

The security forces' members fulfilled their duties and had the right to use weapons, according to existing laws, he added.
