At least four people were killed and seven others injured when a scuffle broke out during a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally in Mardan district.
According to the officials, the scuffle took place between workers of Awami National Party and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in Hoti Ala Dad Khel.
"A disagreement arose between ANP and PTI workers. As a result, both side pulled out pistols and opened fire on each other," the Express Tribune quoted an official, as saying.
Mohmand Khan, Tehsil council member was among those who succumbed to their injuries.
The injured were immediately rushed to the hospital.
A wave of panic spread throughout the district, as the news of the incident spread like wildfire.
The police have arrested four people in connection with the incident and said that the situation is under control.

However, an FIR has yet to be registered against the incident.
Famed cricketer Imran Khan is the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI), while Asfandyar Wali Khan is the chief of Awami National Party (ANP).
