Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard is reportedly set to sign a one-year extension with the club as his current contract ends at the end of June, midway through the World Cup finals in Brazil.
Lampard has reportedly been in talks with Chelsea over extending his contract for weeks as he wants his future sorted out before the World Cup finals, but the agreement on the new contract is now close.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has been adamant that he wants the England international to stay on at the club and even Lampard, who is in his 13th year at the club, is keen on extending his stay at Stamford Bridge, the Daily Express reported.
Lampard's new deal would keep him close to his current salary, which is nearly 1,25,000 pounds-a-week, plus bonuses and image rights, the report mentioned.
Talks over Lampard's new deal had been going on for the last month or so, but the midfielder is ready to sign the deal now and a source close to the player has reportedly revealed that Lampard loves playing for Chelsea under Mourinho's guidance and that he wants to finish his career at the club.
Chelsea has also offered skipper John Terry a one-year extension at the club on his current contract, the report added.
