Freed Al-Jazeera journalist Peter Greste, who was arrested by Egyptian authorities along with other journalists for aiding the Muslim Brotherhood, has said that he is relieved to be free but feels "incredible angst" at leaving his colleagues in jail.
He was deported on Sunday after spending 400 days behind bars, reported the BBC.
Greste termed his release "a massive step forward" for Egypt but expressed concern for other journalists convicted in absentia. "If it's right for me to be free then it's right for all of them to be free," he said.
The Latvian-Australian journalist was arrested in 2013 along with colleagues, Mohamed Fahmy and Baher Mohamed, after being accused of collaborating with the banned Muslim Brotherhood following the removal of former President Mohammed Morsi by the military.
Fahmy and Mohamed remain jailed.
