French President Francois Hollande has refused to address claims that he's having an affair with actress Julie Gayet, saying that "private matters should be dealt with privately".
During a recent press conference, when Hollande was asked to clarify on his relationship status with "official" partner Valerie Trierweiler, who was recently hospitalised after reports of Hollande cheating on her surfaced, he said that he's experiencing a "difficult moment" in his private life, the BBC reported.
Hollande asserted that he would not answer questions about his personal life as it was neither the time nor the place, and also out of respect for those involved.
Hollande added that he will clarify whether Trierweiler was still the first lady before a February trip to the US.
