British heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury taped his mouth and refused to say a single word on Monday as he protested against his fine from the British Boxing Board of Control after being handed a misconduct charge and fined 15,000 pounds for his behaviour at a press conference in June.
The British Boxing Board of Control had fined him after the boxer launched into a number of expletive-ridden rants at his counterpart Dereck Chisora and journalists during a press conference.
The tape strapped across Fury's mouth had 'BBB of C' and question marks written across it. Fury will face compatriot Chisora for a second time on 29 November at London's ExCel after winning the first bout on points in 2011, The Guardian reported.
The promoter Mick Hennessy, speaking on Fury's behalf, said that at the end of the day one needs characters to be able to be themselves whatever they're confronted with, adding that sometimes one is going to get a gentleman with the British boxer and sometimes, if he's rubbed up the wrong way, one would get another side of him.
Hennessy also said that at the end of the day surely Fury should be allowed to be himself, adding that they could be in jeopardy of this fight not happening but they all want the fight to happen so that's what this is about.
Fury, who has won all 22 of his fights to date, signalled with hand gestures that he plans to keep the tape on for all interviews ahead of the bout and that he would knock Chisora out in the first round, the report added.
