Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would win the Assam assembly elections this time and develop the north-eastern region in five years which couldn't happen in last fifty years.
Speaking on the ongoing election in five states of the country, Gadkari claimed that his party will win in Assam.
"We will develop north-east in the five years which couldn't happen in last fifty years," he told ETV head Jagdeesh Chandra in a recent interview.
The exit polls predicted an anti-incumbent mood in the states of Assam, Kerala and Tamil Nadu except West Bengal.
All exit polls predicted a victory for the BJP in Congress-ruled Assam, raising the party's hopes of its first government in a north-eastern state.
If the BJP manages to defeat the Congress in Assam then it will reinforce the observation that the ruling party still has an edge over the grand old party.
