An explosion at a gas pipeline at a state-owned Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) site in Nagaram in Andhra Pradesh's Guntur District has reportedly resulted in the death of at least eight persons and injuries to many others.
Media reports said that the blast occurred at around 5.30 a.m., and there is every likelihood of the death toll going up
Though the fire has reportedly been brought under control and the gas supply line has been cut off, there are still eight fire engines at the spot
People are being evacuated from the area.
GAIL is the country's largest state-owned natural gas processing and distribution company.
