The Congress party on Friday demanded a judicial inquiry into farmer Gajendra Singh's suicide at an Aam Aadmi Party rally held earlier this week against the Land Acquisition Bill in New Delhi.

"A very unfortunate incident has happened in front of a Chief Minister. We are putting pressure on the government for judicial inquiry because conflicting reports are coming day-by-day. It is the duty of the government to reveal the facts. Therefore there should be a judicial inquiry," Congress leader K.C Venugopal told ANI.

Congress leader Shobha Oza also pressed for an inquiry into the incident.

"There should be a judicial enquiry into the incident; only then things will become clear," Oza said.

As per reports, a suicide note was found that revealed that Gajendra, who had three children, was banished from his house after his crop was damaged. He took the extreme step because he had no means of support his family.

Later, senior leaders of the AAP had accused the Delhi Police of being responsible for his death, alleging that the Centre is using the force as its puppet.
