Following the Delhi Government's staunch objection to the appointment of Shakuntala Gamlin as acting chief secretary, the North-East community here has accused Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of targeting her due to her roots.
"We are concerned and perturbed by the recent development after the appointment of the acting chief secretary, an officer from the North East, who also happens to be a woman. Recent developments point to the fact that she was first recommended along with another officer to the LG for the post. After her appointment, a lot of mudslinging and maligning statements have come from the AAP," a protestor told ANI.
"We are very concerned about it and wondering whether those attacking statements have come because the officer happens to be from the North East and happens to be a woman. If not so, they must come up with a clear statement," he added.
Kejriwal is scheduled to meet President Pranab Mukherjee today amidst escalating tensions between his government and Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung.
The Chief Minister had sought appointment for a meeting with the President. According to sources in the Chief Minister's Office, the Rashtrapati Bhavan has given him appointment at 6 p.m.
