Mahatma Gandhi's personal Charkha, which he used whilst imprisoned at Yerwada Jail, is set to go under the hammer this Tuesday 5th November at Mullock's auction house in England.
The Charkha was the physical embodiment and symbol of Mahatma Gandhi.
"In my dream, in my sleep, while eating, I think of the spinning wheel. The spinning wheel is my sword. To me it is the symbol of India's liberty," he once said.
The Charkha is expected to fetch 60000 - 80000 pounds.
According to the auction house, it's the most important artifact they have handled.
Over 60 artifacts relating to the father of the nation will be auctioned, including a rare drawing from the 1940s of a jubilant Adolf Hitler overlooking Mahatma Gandhi setting alight British occupied India.
